At the root of it all...
There is research being done into our ancestral cave paintings to determine exactly at what point that we began to have the self awareness to step away from the necessity of survival and begin to develop art. The intent of this research is to connect the first appearance of cave paintings with the ability to stand erect. In confronting the vertical surfaces of the caves and relaxing through the creation process, the muscles in manâs back softened and stretched into the beginnings of Homo sapiens. They are referring to this ancestor as âThe Man Who Playsâ. And that is the power of artâ¦that is the power of playâ¦the ability alter the course of evolution! .
